Hello again!

Okay I hadn’t quite realised how long it had been since I last posted something here. This weekend I bought four notebooks which I will use one as a writer’s journal, one for writing exercise, one for poetry exercises and the last one for recording my writing related financial documents. I have started doing some writing exercises with a friend supplying me with 10 random words each day which I use to write a paragraph. I have signed up for my next OU course which will be A215 Creative Writing.

A Kindle experiment

I have spent the evening formatting two collections of poetry into one for publishing on Kindle. The two collections had been available as pdf’s previously but they have now been removed. I wanted to reformat the layout and I have to be honest do some editing. I seem to have had a habit of capitalising words inappropriately, also  I have changed the title of one poem.

The collection covers poems written from the late 1990 to 2004. I am going to write an introduction to the collection and I have a friend who is going to design a cover for me. I may add a couple of other poems from the period covered by the collection.

More soon.

Motivation

Yesterday evening I attended a Writers Night presented by The Open University and the Scottish Institute for Enterprise. The two speakers were Sue Reid Sexton and Jackie Kemp. I found both speakers very informative and having the chance to speak to a few fellow budding writers has energised me to getting my own writing efforts going again.

I am interested in writing novels, short stories and for screen. At the moment I am working on a crime/mystery novel set in Edinburgh and a screenplay for a friend’s university project.

As well as working full-time I am studying the A230 Reading and Studying Literature course with the Open University and plan to take the A215 Creative writing  course next as I work towards a BA (Honours) English Literature in the coming years.
